Plastic Abrasive Blasting Media
Plastic Blast Media (PBM) are used for gentle cleaning, paint stripping and deflashing applications. Because the media is harder than the coating but softer than the underlying substrate, coatings can be removed without significantly damaging the surface. PBM is reusable and suitable for sensitive materials such as aluminum, composites and plastic components.

Plastic types
Type A
PBM Type A is produced from not fully hardened urea, melamine and phenolic molding materials. It represents a cost-efficient alternative to the other PBM types described below.
Type II
PBM Type II is manufactured from fully hardened urea molding compounds and treated with a special anti-static agent. This is the most commonly used plastic blasting media and is suitable for a wide range of applications. PBM Type II / Urea is certified by the U.S. Air Force in accordance with MIL-P-85891.
Type III
PBM Type III is produced from fully hardened melamine molding compounds and treated with an anti-static agent. This type has the highest hardness among PBM media, providing more aggressive cleaning performance and faster removal of heavier coatings. Due to its higher hardness, it is less suitable for very sensitive substrates. PBM Type III is certified by the U.S. Air Force according to MIL-P-85891.
Type V
PBM Type V is manufactured from fully hardened acrylic molding compounds and treated with an anti-static agent. It is the least aggressive PBM type and is therefore suitable for blasting soft or thin non-ferrous metals as well as composite components. The blasting process is gentle and does not damage soft metals, galvanic coatings or composite materials. PBM Type V is certified by the U.S. Air Force according to MIL-P-85891.”
